How your puppy reaches Kerala

Kerala has four airports, which keeps the road leg short wherever you are. We fly with the puppy into Kochi for Thrissur, Kottayam and Alappuzha; into Thiruvananthapuram for the capital and Kollam; and into Kozhikode or Kannur for Malabar, including Malappuram.

Palakkad is reached by road from Kochi, or from Coimbatore just across the border. Someone from our family travels with the puppy, in the cabin where the airline allows it, and hands it to you at home.

Kerala's weather and a curly coat

Kerala gets two monsoons, the south-west from June to September and the north-east in October and November, and it is humid all year in between. A Poodle or Goldendoodle coat does not shed; it holds moisture against the skin, which leads to matting, skin trouble and ear infections if it is not managed.

It is manageable, but it takes commitment: a short clip all year, drying right down to the skin after every bath and every wet walk, weekly ear checks, and a groomer you can rely on. Palakkad and the interior are a little drier than the coast.

Which breed suits Kerala?

For Kerala we often steer families away from a heavy-coated F1B and towards a Toy Poodle, which has the least coat to manage, or an F1 Goldendoodle. A Standard Poodle is possible in a short clip if you are ready for the grooming. Read our Kochi page before you decide.

Yes. You are welcome to visit our home in Delhi by appointment, or we do an unedited live video call with the mother and the litter. We do not place a puppy with anyone who has not seen its mother.

Will you tell me if Kerala is too hard for a particular puppy?

Yes. We would rather place the right dog than the most fashionable one. If we think a heavy coat will struggle in your home, we will say so and suggest a Toy Poodle or an F1 Goldendoodle instead.
