How your puppy reaches Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh is a road state for us, and that is the gentlest way for a young puppy to travel: no airport, no crate, and proper time with you at the handover. Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad are a short drive from our home, so the handover usually happens the same day. Meerut, Mathura, Aligarh and Agra are a comfortable drive along the expressways.

Lucknow and Kanpur are a long road day, which we still prefer to a flight for an eight-week-old puppy. Bareilly, Moradabad and Saharanpur in the west are drives we plan with a stop. For the far east of the state, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Gorakhpur, we talk it through with you first: a long drive broken up sensibly, or an accompanied flight into Varanasi, Prayagraj or Gorakhpur, whichever is kinder for the puppy.

Before anything is booked, you see the mother, in person in Delhi or on a live video call, and we agree the route and the cost with you. Puppies travel from eight weeks at the earliest. More on how this works on our delivery across India page.

Uttar Pradesh's weather and a curly coat

Most of Uttar Pradesh shares Delhi's weather: summer afternoons in May and June can cross 45°C, the monsoon arrives around late June and stays into September, and winter brings fog and, in the western cities, poor air. For a curly coat, the dry heat is the main thing to manage, not humidity.

Walk before 7:30 in the morning and after sunset from April to September. Keep the coat at a medium length rather than shaving it to the skin: the coat protects against the sun. In Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut and Lucknow, cut walks short when the AQI passes 300 and play indoors instead.

Our grooming guide covers clips and coat care for Indian weather in more detail.

Which breed suits Uttar Pradesh?

Every breed we raise does well in Uttar Pradesh if the summer is handled sensibly. A Toy Poodle is the easiest choice for a flat in Noida, Lucknow or Kanpur. A Standard Poodle, or a big Giant-type Standard, suits a family with a garden or a park walk every day. A Goldendoodle is the most forgiving first dog with children in the house.
